Mad River Theater Works, with the support of the Yellow Springs Community Foundation and the Ohio Arts Council, joyfully invites youth between the ages of 8-17 to participate in a two-week Summer Theater Workshop this June. We will explore theater arts skills, create an original play with music and put it on its feet in front of a hometown audience. Join us!

Mad River has the privilege of performing for young audiences in fine theaters all over the country - this Summer we’re excited to offer our second play-making program in our new home in Yellow Springs!

Here are some basic details and information about the program. Please fill out the form below if you’re interested. We do ask that everyone with an intent to enroll make a complete commitment to the dates of the program.

When? The weeks of June 3rd and 10th, 2024. M-F 9:30-3:30. Performance on Friday June 14th @ 7PM.

Where? The Foundry Theater, 920 Corry Street, Yellow Springs OH 45387

Who? Mad River artists will lead (full bios to follow). We have spots for 25 youth between the ages of 8-17

How much? Enrollment for the two-week program is $325.00. We do have a limited number of scholarships thanks to the generosity of the Yellow Springs Community Foundation.

What? Mad River lead artists, along with some local mentors, will lead our participants on a journey through theater arts. We will interact with the various aspects of theater including, but not limited to, Acting, Writing, Directing, Music, Stage Design, Lighting and Costume. Daily activities with the various disciplines will find participants grouped into two age appropriate blocks (a Younger Group and an Older Group) and we will collaboratively create an original performance to be shared with the community at large. No one has to do anything they don’t want to do and can choose a roll that best suits their interest. We do ask that all have a willingness to participate, an open mindedness to the experience, and a general spirit of kindness and collaboration.
